#TiziTastes | IKYU Japanese Fine Dining & Omakase
A Personable and Delightful Omakase Experience
Nestled in the Tiong Bahru area, IKYU is a modern Japanese fine dining restaurant and bar known for its unique and authentic ode to their Master Chef Seki's experience in Japan. I've been to IKYU three times now and every experience has always been so amazing. I am a big fan of Omakase dining experiences as I am always intrigued by the creativity of Chefs in marrying their culinary finesse with exclusive and seasonal ingredients. At IKYU, I am always treated to a great meal and warm service from the managers, Chefs and staff.
Enjoy this visual glimpse into my experience with IKYU! *WILL CAUSE RUMBLING TUMMIES*
Chef Alex
Chef Alex always accommodates my requests and never fails to fill the space with laughter and delightful "mmmm!"s. His warm personality, great sense of humor and not to mention vast experience as a Chef brings more than just good food to the table. Every dish is always unique, delicious, beautifully plated and accompanied by an explanation behind each element. I will always remember his candid sharing about his life in Malaysia and eventful experience as a Chef!
Sashimi
A personal favourite. I love sashimi, especially Uni and Hotate. There's something about fresh Sashimi that just melts in your mouth! IKYU serves a delightful array of Sashimi that is always fresh, carefully paired and customised to your tastes. I am also very particular about Wasabi. I do believe that if an establishment doesn't serve fresh Wasabi, the Chefs are just not serious enough about their Sashimi and Sushi!
Small Plates
Depending on your preferences and the seasonality of ingredients, IKYU serves up appetising and luxurious yet appropriately portioned for your enjoyment. Although not pictured here, I really enjoy their superior soups and broths, so do request for that if you pop by!
Catch Of The Day
Being largely pescatarian (can't get rid of my soft spot for Foie Gras), I usually request for fish instead of other meats. IKYU always serves up fresh seasonal fish that are sure to thrill any seafood lover!
Worth the Calories
A typical Omakase feature is a carbohydrate based dish. From experience, it is usually a decadent seasonal Chirashi Don handcrafted by the Chef!
Always Ending on a Sweet Note
Whether it's their signature Sho Cheesecake or a handcrafted Aiyu-inspired jelly cocktail, IKYU has the perfect dessert to punctuate your Omakase experience. Caution, you might be bursting at the seams as this point. Itadakimasu!
